I'm 26

I am officially over half-way through my twenties.  I know that isn't old, but I do think birthdays are starting to add up. 

Here are some ways I celebrated:

• Shopping

• Kevin made my favorite meal (shrimp risotto, Parmesan puffs, and apple tart) on Saturday night

• Took Monday off from work and went to Council Grove to spend my birthday with my parents
• Went to On The Border with Kevin Monday night

The Big Camping Adventure

Two weeks ago, Kevin and I decided we would finally go camping together.  For a brief recap, Kevin is an Eagle Scout.  I have not camped in a tent since I was two and my parents heard it was good for teaching toddlers potty training.  I was nervous.

Unfortunately, two weekends ago the weather turned out to be not ideal (tornado watches, hail), so we decided not to venture out.  This past weekend, we heard on Thursday that the temp was going to drop significantly with crazy winds on Friday.  Not wanting to have to cancel yet again, Kevin and I came up with a compromise for Saturday night:

Yes, we camped in our backyard!  We had to be up early for Palm Sunday, so it seemed like a good option.  We went out to dinner with Kevin's extended family, came home, got ready for bed in our house, then slept under the stars.  I have been informed that this is not truly "camping", though.  Benton joined us, and other than wanting to snuggle on our air mattress throughout the night, he did great.  I did enjoy it for the most part, so I think it  is safe to say that this may happen again!

And, even though this is a ridiculously bad picture of the end of the press conference they had last week with the family, I felt lame to have another post without pictures.  So, enjoy our kitchen window screen!

New 'do

I got my hair cut.  Seriously cut.  I love it!

After the Circus...

Life on Hollywood Court has slowly been returning to normal.  It's been just over a week, and we finally have all the tents down and big vehicles gone.  The security has been gone since last weekend, so the next stage has been the parade of cars that come to see the new house.  That has even started trailing off now.  Yesterday, for the first time, I noticed our neighborhood was finally feeling settled down again. 

Kevin and I plan to introduce ourselves soon to the new neighbors, although we want to make sure they have plenty of time to settle first.  They have had lots of visitors (Carl is one of 12 children), so I'm sure they will appreciate a little time.  I'm excited to have them as our neighbors!
